BURGESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Positive COVID-19 Case:  Letter to All Burgess Families

May 12, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you that we were notified this afternoon that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19.  All close contacts have been identified and contacted.  Our first responsibility is to keep our students and staff safe.  Our student body and staff have been closely adhering to the safety protocols, including mask-wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing.  We are grateful to our families for their continued efforts to keep students home at the first sign of symptoms.  These measures, taken in combination, greatly reduce the risk of additional transmission.

Please understand that we cannot provide specific information about our school community member who has tested positive.  Unless you were otherwise informed, your child was NOT a close contact of the affected community member.

To further prevent transmission of the virus to other staff and students, we have sanitized the school with a focus on those areas impacted by the community member that tested positive.  Because of the protocols we have in place in an effort to decrease the spread of the virus, the school schedule will continue as planned.  This news of a positive case reminds us all why it is so very important for all of us to continue to follow safety protocols both at school and outside of school.  We also greatly appreciate your close communication with the Health Office regarding your child’s health and your support in keeping your child home if they are experiencing symptoms of illness.

We are committed to providing timely and transparent communication with all of the members of our school community regarding any situations related to COVID-19 that affect our students and staff.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Principal Pelley at pelleyk@tantasqua.org or Nurse Meunier at meunierl@tantasqua.org.  Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Pelley, Principal                                                                    Lisa Meunier, BSN, CSN, M.Ed
