Dear Parent/Guardian:
Kindergarten developmental screening for the incoming kindergartners’ will be held at Burgess Elementary School on Tuesday, May 3rd, and Wednesday, May 4th.
You may schedule the screening appointment between April 7th at 9:00 a.m. – April 28th at 12:00 p.m.
To schedule your Kindergarten screening appointment:
We want to make screening a rewarding experience for our students and parents. Therefore, we are requesting for you not to arrive early, and at least one adult accompanies your child. At the end of the screening, your child(ren) will be offered a book to take home.
More information will follow regarding the Kindergarten Orientation for parents and students on August 31st. The first day of school for all kindergarten students will be on September 1st. A message from BURGESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STURBRIDGE
Dear Tantasqua & Union 61 Community,It is with great excitement that I share that Tantasqua’s high school show choir group Encore! just completed their 2022 competition season this past weekend in Waltham by bringing home a Gold medal, 2nd Runner Up trophy, and the Ted McIvor Award for the group most demonstrating the spirit of show choir. Other awards won during their season include “Best Show Design”, “Best Original Ballad” and “Best Soloist”, Ian Anderson. We are so proud and happy for the students who all persevered through such a challenging two years and come out so strong this season. Their show this year pays homage to many of these challenges.
This Friday, we will end our performance season with our annual home Show Choir Showcase at the high school, along with a final performance by the Jr High Maestros. The Encore! students started the tradition a few years ago of making this home show a fundraiser for a charity of their choice. This year, they have chosen to support an organization that is incredibly close to home. This year’s showcase will be dedicated to Kendra Iller-Britton and the entire Iller family, who were once and will always be members of our show choir family. Kendra was a Tantasqua graduate who lost her two-year fight against cancer in February, but not before working passionately with an organization called DetecTogether to help educate young people about the early detection of cancer and provide a network of support for those diagnosed. The Iller Family continues to support this organization and the Tantasqua Show Choirs want to do their share.
Please join us this Friday, April 8th at 7:00 PM in the THS auditorium to celebrate a great season for our show choirs and to honor Kendra’s memory. While there will be no formal admission price for this event, all donations made at the door will be sent to DetecTogether.
Thanks for all your support. We look forward to seeing you Friday at 7!
